7 Easy Ways to Cut Calories for Weight and Body Fat Loss

Most people aren’t super jazzed about cutting their caloric intake, but if you want to drop fat it’s essential to manage your portions, along with the types of foods you’re consuming. Even if you want to maintain your weight, you’ve got to ensure you’re not going over your daily caloric needs on a regular basis or you will gain. Here’s how you can cut calories and stay satisfied.

7 Easy Ways to Cut Calories

Cutting calories shouldn’t take you from overeating to starvation. In the beginning especially, the foods you swap should feel satisfying and almost effortless. Here’s how:

  1. Focus on eating lean proteins and vegetables first at every meal to fill you up and give your body the nutrients it needs.
  2. Drink only calorie-free beverages. We recommend sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon.
  3. Use healthier cooking methods that don’t involve oils – bake, grill, crockpot, etc.
  4. Use low calorie condiments like vinegar, mustard and herbs/spices to flavor your food.
  5. Stop snacking. That means no food or beverages between meals. The exception: water, tea, or black coffee.
  6. Limit starchy carb consumption to once per day.
  7. Find healthier substitutions for foods you love. For example, Halo Top is a good substitute instead of regular ice cream or kale chips instead of potato chips.
