Many of our clients at Method3 Fitness ask “How can I improve my workouts in order to maximize my results?” The answer is simple: Make them more efficient. Ever heard the saying that you should work smarter not harder? We disagree. To get results, you need to work smarter AND harder. Here’s how.

Plan Your Workout In Advance

Before you head to the gym, make a plan for your workout. You should know:

  1. How much time you’ll commit to your routine
  2. What exercises you’ll complete

This way, you won’t spend time wandering around wondering what to do.

Pro Tip: Plan your entire week so that you hit different muscle groups or perform different types of exercises each time you go.

Add Compound Exercises to Your Workout

To put it simply, compound exercises work more than one muscle group at a time. Performing them allows you to hit more of your target areas in a shorter period of time AND it gets your heartrate up so that you burn more faster. Examples of compound exercises include:

  • pushups
  • pullups
  • squats
  • lunges
  • deadlifts
  • bent over rows

Take Fewer Breaks

Move swiftly from one exercise to the next and you’ll not only spend less time in the gym, but you’ll also challenge your muscular endurance. Try an interval style workout, such as an E.M.O.M. That’s a workout where each exercise is performed every minute on the minute, without any breaks in between.

Our suggestion: Choose 5-10 compound exercises for your E.M.O.M. Complete all of them, take 60-90 seconds for recovery, then complete 2 more rounds.

As you can see, prep work is key when it comes to making your workouts more efficient and effective. With a little extra planning and consistent execution, you can achieve better results. So take charge of your workouts and get ready to level up!
