Did you know that the foods you eat can cause different types of reactions within your body? That’s right. Some forms of sugar and sodium can lead to increased fat-retention in the belly, thighs, and glutes. There are also foods that help your body turn off its fat-storing genes! In his book titled, “Zero Belly Fat Diet–The Revolutionary New Plan to Turn Off Your Fat Genes,” David Zinczenko describes how his “Zero Belly Fat Plan” reduces inflammation, stops bloating, and switches off inherited fat genes. Sound a little too good to be true? Try it for yourself! Here are the nine foods he recommends.
1. “Zero Belly” drinks
These are essentially smoothies made with plants that have a high resveratrol content. Resveratrol is an antioxidant which is found in many red fruits, dark chocolate, and peanut butter.
2. Eggs
Eggs contain a nutrient known as choline, which can penetrate cell-membranes to turn fat genes off.
3. Red Fruits
The deeper the color of red, the stronger the effects will be.
4. Olive Oil and Healthy Fats
Olive oil works as a great replacement for butter or margarine and each of these helps to control hunger cravings for hours.
5. Fiber from beans, rice, and oats
not only does this help in regulating your gut bacteria, it also helps to turn off diabetic genes.
6. Plant proteins
These proteins found in soy, split peas, seeds, and other types of nuts such as pecans, almonds, or sunflower seeds. Another great option is adding a plant protein powder supplement to your smoothies.
7. Lean Meat
Chicken, turkey, or fish help to keep your metabolism burning at a high rate which allows the body to burn excess fat.
8. Leafy Greens and Tea
Greens can help in reducing inflammation and turn off fat genes. Brighter-colored vegetables are recommended. Green tea and Nettle tea both help to curb the appetite and have the added benefits of diminishing bloating and supplying antioxidants.
9. Select Spices
Spices like cinnamon and ginger help with inflammation and blocking fat genes as well.
Be Smart
The list above looks pretty good and includes some great things to be aware of and include in your nutrition plan. Just remember that too much of anything isn’t always good, so be wary of your portion sizes as you healthily eat your way to a great physique! Try incorporating these foods into your diet to shut down those fat-producing genes.
