Celebrate D.E.A.R. DAY

Celebrate D.E.A.R. DAY

Drop Everything and Read Day (also known as D.E.A.R. Day) is celebrated every year on April 12th.  That's the birthday of beloved author Beverly Cleary, whose characters Ramona and older sister Beezus are now favorites of a new generation of readers.  On this day, families are encouraged to take at least 30 minutes to put aside all distractions and enjoy books together.

In honor of this day, we've compiled a list of some of our coaches' favorite titles.

Need some daily motivation?  Check out these motivational books recommended by our Chief Motivator, John Heringer:

7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey - "I LOVE the principles and paradigm shifts! This book is so insightful and so dead on!"

5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman - "I found this book helpful for both for home and workplace. It gives great insight and understanding of how people (loved ones and co-workers) truly like to feel appreciated."

Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod - "The 6 S's to start the day can be very powerful! Even if you just adopt a combination of 3-4 of them, your mornings will greatly benefit each day. "

Find yourself constantly chasing after work-life balance? Check out this recommendation from Coach Nadia:

Get a Life, Not a Job by Paula Caligiuri - "I found this book while browsing the self help section at Barnes and Noble. The author details a simple method for creating a vision for your life and career and takes you through the steps of how to bring your vision to life. It's what led me to consider a career in fitness, so this book definitely changed my life! "

Ready for some serious fitness learning? Check out this recommendation from Coach Keith:

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Encyclopedia of Modern Body Building - "This was my first fitness 'book' and it was a huge resource for my own introduction to weight training. "

Looking to escape in a book and learn a little along the way?  Check out this series recommended by Coach Yvonne:

The Earth Children Series by Jean Auel - "The author did extensive archeological research to bring this period piece to life. She paints a vivid picture of a world where the Neanderthals are dying out and the evolved race is coming to be. The main character is a woman of such incredible strength, courage and integrity that I named my daughter after her as I pray she embodies all of these traits. The series starts with The Clan of the Cave Bear. (Yes there was a movie with Darryl Hanna, but it was horrible and did the book no justice!) so if interested you should start there! If you enjoy a good escape with some fantasy rolled in historical education check this one out!"

Need books to read with your little ones? Check out Coach Hanna's favorite children's author:

Julia Donaldson - "My favorite books to read with my daughter Grace are by Julia Donaldson. She provides great stories with subtle moral lessons that are even fun for parents to read over and over again. "

Always lost in a good book? Be sure to ask fellow reader, Coach Sarah for a good book recommendation:

"I love books SO much. I had to put myself on book freeze until I get through my stack. There's a great website called thriftbooks.com where you can get used books for cheap. I'm currently reading The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, The Platform Sutra, and A Healing Space by Matt Licata. "

We hope you enjoy this list of good reads from our coaches.  Full disclosure, Method3 does make a small commission if you purchase any of the recommended books through the listed links above. Please know we only recommend products we like and use!

Happy Reading!
