Spicy Garlic Pepper Vinegar Recipe

There’s no denying it ... garlic adds amazing flavor to almost any meal! And we're super excited that today, April 19th is National Garlic Day.

Did you know garlic contains a surprising amount of antioxidants & anti-inflammatory compounds that up its nutritional power?

It may help boost your immune system, reduce high blood pressure and lower cholesterol. There's even evidence that it can help athletic performance.

Looking for a simple recipe to celebrate National Garlic Day? Check out this easy Spicy Garlic Pepper Vinegar. It's great for dressing up a salad, splashed into soups, or in a marinade.

 

SPICY GARLIC PEPPER VINEGAR

(Makes ¾ cup) 

Ingredients:

• 3 cloves garlic

• 2 Thai chilis or 1 large serrano chile 

• ¼ cup rice vinegar 

• ½ cup water 

 

Preparation:

Peel the cloves of garlic and place on a cutting board. “Mash” them by pressing down on them using either a fork or the broad end of a knife, to gently open the skin. Place the garlic in a medium mason jar.

 

Next, partially split the peppers lengthwise and add them to the garlic. Pour the rice vinegar and water into the jar, and secure the jar’s cover.

 

Place in the refrigerator overnight before using.

 

This will keep for months in the refrigerator. If it tastes too garlicky or hot, add more vinegar and water, keeping the same 1:2 ratio (i.e., 2 tbsp vinegar to 4 tbsp water).
