  1. Keep a record of your goals and your progress. Write down what you want and how it’s going. Why? Because sometimes you’ll feel like you’re not getting anywhere, and the facts will encourage you to keep going. 

  2. Be specific about goals and “small” progress. Each tiny step forward is a step in the right direction and deserves recognition. This approach makes your goals feel achievable and keeps your momentum going.

  3. Don’t be afraid of negative feelings. Turn them around by acknowledging them, refusing to condemn yourself, and making positive statements of intent. “Yes, I’m feeling down today, but I know that I will feel better tomorrow if I stick to my guns.”

  4. Prioritize your Big Dreams into daily “to do” lists. This keeps you focused and organized. It’s easier to tackle a big goal when you take it one small step at a time.

  5. Be kind to yourself, like you would be to a friend. It’s OK to stumble and have off days. Self-compassion nurtures resilience and keeps you moving forward.

  6. Get support when you need it. Whether it’s gym friends, family, or a professional, having a support system can make all the difference. They can offer encouragement, advice, and a fresh perspective when you need it most.

  7. Exercise, eat right, sleep well, and manage stress through daily habits like: intentional movement and mindfulness, even in bits and pieces on days when you’re too swamped to commit as much time as you’d like. A little of “good” is better than none!

  8. Finally, refer to your “why” statement: Why are you on this journey? A clear, concise statement of intent will take you far on those days when you’re feeling fuzzy and unmotivated.


All this boils down to relying on the facts instead of the feels. You’ve made your decisions and your goals. A solid foundation will keep you from wavering on those inevitable days when it’s not easy.
