Our Campbell personal fitness trainers want to know, have you ever started a journey and wanted to immediately arrive at your destination?

Sure! We all have, like kids in the backseat on a family vacation asking, “Are we there yet?”

It’s only natural to get excited about a new goal and want to reach it right away. You set a goal for workouts, or for your weight, or for developing a new skill… and before you really get started, you’re asking, “How long is this going to take???”

Well, here’s the truth: It’s going to take as long as it takes.

Sorry if that’s an unsatisfying answer. But if you think about it, there’s encouragement in it – because it reinforces the simple, blessed truth that you are you, wholly unique and beautifully individual.

Everybody is different. And… every body is different!

If reaching personal goals were as “one size fits all” as we might like, well, that would take away half the fun, wouldn’t it?

It would take away what YOU bring to the equation.

It would make your personal journey just like everyone else’s.

And it just doesn’t work that way.

  • What works for one person in three months might come to you in five.

  • You can reach a milestone tomorrow that might take others until next week.

  • Some people open their mouths and sing beautifully … while the rest of us take lessons just to carry a tune.

It’s all good. Rather than compare yourself to others, or to some arbitrary schedule, try this, instead.

Try to enjoy the journey, rather than obsessing about getting to the goal as quickly as possible.

After all, you’re trying to build and nurture healthy habits to last a lifetime more than you’re trying to lose “this many” pounds or go to the gym “that many” sessions a week.

Isn’t that a more beautiful ride?

Isn’t that more likely to keep you going with curiosity and wonder?

Oh, yes! So, let’s get you going!
