Be Your Own BFF This Holiday Season

As we gear up for a busy holiday week, we want to take a moment to remind you to spend some time taking care of YOU.

This time of year, we show up for others in our lives.. often stepping out of our usual routine and schedule to be there for family and friends to show them how much they mean to us.

But can you do it for yourself?

Are you “there” for yourself like you are for others?

Over the holidays it can be hard to stay committed to healthy habits you've established through the year.. you may even decide it's "not worth even trying" and just give up.

Instead, remember these simple steps to support yourself during this busy time...

  • Commit to yourself. Schedule in the time you need to maintain your habits. Whether it be committing to a workout class or simply blocking off time for a walk before you go enjoy en evening full of festivities.
  • Stop insulting yourself. Don't say things like "I'm so bad" for indulging in your favorite holiday treat. Enjoy yourself without judgement.
  • Set boundaries with others. When we’re always trying to please people by accepting every request, we diminish our time and resources. Saying “no” this time of year isn’t selfish; it’s necessary and important.
  • Practice daily affirmations to celebrate YOU and keep your perspective during the end of year chaos.

Finally, if all else fails, remember what flight attendants tell passengers at the start of every flight. If those air masks drop, get yours on right first before trying to help anybody else.

Supporting and loving yourself this holiday season will allow you to be more present and enjoy your time with others.
