Everyone talks about what to add to their routine to make it more effective.
More supplements, more workouts, more discipline, more intensity.
Blah, blah, blah.
But some of the most impactful changes can happen when you stop doing things!
That’s why we’re sharing a list of four things to quit doing when the days get shorter, and why, as a woman over 40 focused on fitness, they can make all the difference.
1. Staying up as late as you used to.
When it starts getting darker sooner, your body naturally winds down earlier. Following your body’s clock and going to bed earlier can help you sleep better and give you more energy during the day.
2. Eating the same way you did during the summer.
When the weather cools down, light summer meals can leave you feeling hungry before dinnertime. Adding more protein and warm, filling foods earlier in the day can help your meals have more staying power.
3. Starting your morning on your phone.
Dark mornings are hard enough without handing your nervous system over to your social media feed before you're even fully awake! Give yourself at least 10 minutes of quiet first. It can change the whole trajectory of your day.
4. Waiting until you feel motivated (like for your workouts!).
If you wait for motivation to kick in, especially on colder, darker days, you can end up waiting a long time!
Do the thing no matter what.
What shifts do you make in your routine as the weather (and sunlight!) changes? Going to try anything new this year? We’d love to hear about it!
