Beat the Heat: 6 Summer Workouts That Actually Work

Let’s skip the boring advice and get to the good stuff:

Sometimes the last thing you want to do when it’s hot out is work out! 

Here’s your savable cheat sheet for getting it done anyway — fast, smart, and effective. 

Summer Workout Hit List ( Method3 Trainer-Approved):

1. Quick Total Body Circuit (3 rounds):

  • 10 dumbbell or bodyweight squats
  • 10 elevated pushups (bench, table, etc.)
  • 10 bent-over rows (dumbbells or backpack)
  • 10 step-ups or reverse lunges
  • 30 sec rest

2. 3 x 10 “Core & Legs” Quickie (3 rounds):

  • 10 walking lunges
  • 10 slow mountain climbers per leg
  • 10 glute bridges
  • 10 side planks (each side, 10 sec hold)
  • 10 burpees
  • 1-3 minutes rest

3. Deck of Cards Burnout (one of our favorites!)
Assign a move to each suit:

  • ♠️ Pushups
  • ♥️ Squats
  • ♣️ Bent-over rows
  • ♦️ Core (plank shoulder taps or V-ups)

Draw 10–12 cards. Do the number shown.
Ace = 11. Face cards = 10.

4. “No Repeat” Conditioning (3 rounds, 30 sec each):

  • Jump squats 
  • Pushups
  • Mountain climbers
  • Alternating lateral lunges
  • High knees
  • 30 sec rest
  • Forearm plank 
  • Side plank (left)
  • Side plank (right)
  • 1 minute rest

5. 10-Min EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute)

  • Odd mins: 10 goblet squats + 10 pushups
  • Even mins: 30 sec fast mountain climbers
  • Finish strong with a 1-min wall sit.

6. “Walk + Finisher” Combo

  • 15-minute brisk walk (buy-in), then: 
  • 15 kettlebell swings (or deadlifts)
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 walking lunges with rotation
  • Repeat 2x. Done.

Save this workout for later. 

These are solid, no-nonsense workouts you can keep in your back pocket all summer (or year!) long.
