You already know sleep affects pretty much every system in your body…

But did you know it also impacts how fast you age… and how old you feel?

Here's the research behind it:

People who sleep poorly have brains that look about a year older than their actual age.

The worse the sleep quality, the older the brain looked.

It shows up quickly, too.

Just two nights of 4-hour sleep made people feel more than four years older.

And the difference between feeling alert and feeling extremely sleepy is associated with feeling a full 10 years older.

Then there’s what’s happening behind the scenes…

Sleep affects your telomeres (those protective caps on your chromosomes).

Poor sleep = faster shortening

Which is closely tied to accelerated aging… plus it triggers a buildup of aging cells that drive inflammation throughout the body.

And here's the one that might surprise you most: it's not just about how long you sleep. 

In a study of over 60,000 adults, “sleep regularity” (going to bed and waking up at the same time) was a stronger predictor of longevity than total sleep duration.

The most consistent sleepers had a 20–48% lower risk of death.

So where do you start?

Keep it simple:

  • Set a consistent sleep + wake time (weekends, too)
  • Wind down before bed
  • Keep your room cool and dark
  • Limit light exposure in the evening. 
  • Avoid alcohol. It might help you fall asleep, but it disrupts the quality of sleep later in the night. The trade-off isn't worth it.

Sleep is the thing that makes everything else work better.

Workouts, cravings, stress levels, energy, recovey… all of it runs better on good sleep.

It's the most underrated tool in your anti-aging toolkit. And it's free.
