Easy Homemade Guacamole

Happy National Avocado Day! 

Avocados are a great source of healthy fat and make an excellent addition to just about any meal!   In celebration, we want to share Coach Sue's favorite Homemade Guacamole Recipe with you!

 

Guacamole with Tortilla Chips

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh avocado
  • 4 roma tomatoes, seeded and diced small
  • 1 small red onion, diced small
  • 1 1/2 T. hot sauce, or more to taste
  • 1 1/2 T. fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 t. salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper
  • 8 oz. tortilla chips

Sue likes to add: 2-4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed; 1 t. Mexican oregano, ½ t. cumin, 3 T. fresh cilantro, minced

 

PREPARATION:

  1. Mash the avocado in a bowl to desired chunkiness.  Add remaining ingredients.
  2. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour for best flavor.

Note: If you press the plastic wrap down on the surface of the guacamole, it helps prevent browning of the avocado.
